these regions. Thes players are very popular and are often reffered to
as region free dvd playes, Multi region dvd player, code free dvd players
codefree dvd players, zone free dvd players and Multi zone dvd players.
However if you purchase a Multi Region Blu-Ray dvd
player, it will only play dvd movies from Region 1 & 2.
Yes there are now modifications available to make Region A/1 Blu-ray players Multi region. After they are modified they will play Region 1/A as well as Region 2/B. For Blu-ray as you can see above that covers most of the world. The best modification for a blu-ray multi region dvd player is the ICOS World Class modification. Besides being able to see movies before approved release dates many films come out in various edited versions. Some have scenes deleted or augmented in various versions but if you want the complete unedited version of your favorite film and it isn't available in your country you might normally have no way of ever seeing it unless you traveled to a country having your version available. But just because you can see it in that country doesn't mean you can take it home and view it on your player and on your TV. Quite the contrary. That's where a multiregion BLU-RAY DVD player comes in.
Other uses include International relocation. If you think you will move overseas or are moving overseas buying a multi region blu-ray player might be a great idea. Many people that live in Europe buy Multi region blu-ray dvd players from the USA just because they are so much cheaper here in the USA. You can usually buy a multi region blu-ray player made by Sony in the USA for the same price as you would be a regoin 2/B player in Europe. So if you think you may be buying blu-ray movies from the USA this is a very smart idea to buy a multi region blu-ray dvd player.
To block you studio require that the Blu-ray standard include codes to prevent playback of certain discs in certain geographical regions. Each player is given a code for the region in which it's sold. The player will refuse to play discs that are not coded for its region. This means that a disc bought in one country may not play on a player bought in another country and even if it could there is the matter of the VIDEO STANDARD to deal with. There are two standards in regular DVDs and two in BLU-RAY (Please rad below about this as actually in HDMI there are NO video standards) and they are NTSC and PAL. These alone make it impossible to view a disc of one standard on a TV that isn't of that standard even if you have a MULTIREGION BLU-RAY DVD player. The TV must match (unless you have a BLU-RAY discs playing in a MULTIREGION PLAYER via HDMI output)!
The answer to this question is MAYBE. Many TVs in the USA and Overseas will support 50 and 60 lines although it is really not a printed specification on the manufacturers specs. In the High resolution HDMI signal Pal/NTSC/Secam is no longer a problem, however the difference really is in the fram rates. 60 freames per 2nd is what we use in the USA whil 50 is what is used in Europe. This difference may cause a Region 2/B blu-ray movie not to play on your TV here in the USA or Vice Versa in Europe. Most TVs are not effected with this issue. So as long as you buy a multi region blu-ray dvd player you should have no problem. However some TVs are effected by this, in which case you will need to purchase a Pal NTSC video converter. These can run about $359 so it is recommended to try it with your tv without the converter first. Iit doesn't work then you will need to purchase the video converter. There is really no way to know which TVs will need the video converter and which ones won't.
